Music for
Seniors

“I have been providing interactive musical entertainment to seniors in and out of Assisted Living for the last five years, particularly those living with dementia. Music is a powerful tool for reducing anxiety, improving communication, and activating networks in the brain that are often unaffected by dementia, like those related to long term memory.
The programs I present in Assisted Living homes are designed to tap into the memories of the resident’s youth, bringing to life songs they may recall from the 1940s through the 1970s, in an engaging, interactive, humor-filled way. Always welcoming requests, I employ my enormous repertoire of show tunes, jazz standards, early rock and roll and folk songs, finding the material that will trigger the most positive response, start folks reminiscing, and maybe even provoke a full fledged sing-along!”

“Ben’s been performing for our memory care and assisted living residents for over a year and he’s never disappointed! He’s incredibly talented at engaging all the residents in the performance no matter where they stand cognitively. He meets the residents where they’re at and they love him!”
- Les Hakey, Community Life Director, Converse Home, Burlington, VT
”Ben was a gift when my mother was living with dementia. He’d show up with his guitar and a peaceful creative energy that put her at ease and brightened up her day. She loved both listening to Ben’s original songs and singing along with his vast repertore of oldies. Ben himself is an amazing listener, making everyone around him feel heard and appreciated as he brings music and laughter- always laughter!”
